A couple books real quick like, many more to come tomorrow
Moon Knight #2
Writer: Warren Ellis
Artist: Declan Shalvey
Color Art: Jordie Bellaire
Letterer: Chris Eliopoulos
Associate Editor: Ellie Pyle
Editors: Stephen Wacker & Nick Lowe
An 8 panel grid opens the story, assorted people getting ready to call it a day. A unseen sniper is taking people down, the panels decrease as the characters are shot by the sniper, are narration tells us about an operative left to die in a far off land, discarded… It’s a story not too far removed from Moon Knight’s own. In the place of the white suited, masked detective of the last issue, here we have a new MK, a more classically super heroic MK than we saw last issue with gadgets, and in his full superhero duds, no doubt another aspect of Khonshu. The decreasing panel grid of the first few pages makes sense, the new MK costume with some more black thrown in looks pretty sweet. And of course Jordie Bellaire colors the book beautifully. Again. Good stuff!
Inhuman #1
Writer: Charles Soule
Artist: Joe Madureira
Color Artist: Marte Gracia
Letterer: VC’s Clayton Cowles
Assistant Editor: Devin Lewis
Editor: Nick Lowe
This book was initially supposed to be written, and was solicited a few months back with Matt Fraction, then plans changed and Charles Soule took over the writing reigns. Art for this series is by Joe Madureira, which, like my haircut, gives me pleasant nostalgic feelings of the 90’s. The Terrigen cloud is working it’s way across the world, first stop Norway, where we meet a character called Lash, so is taking a cocoon to protect, and then judge whether it is worthy to survive. Medusa is in this issue, searching for Black Bolt. And we are introduced to Dante, his sick mother, and pregnant widowed sister. He’s a drummer*. The mist hits Illinois, Dante and his mother are both cocooned, she doesn’t survive the experience, and Lash shows up to judge them. Not a bad book, cool to see Joe Mad on a book, the story is fine enough, I might give it a couple issues, hopefully things pick up a bit.
